Lunch With My Boys

I am volunteering on a regular basis at the boys school each week for the 2nd grade team, and I have also been elected to volunteer once a month in Zac's kindergarten class.  I enjoy going and being a part of the elementary school atmosphere.  These teachers amaze me at what they do with 25+ students in their classes and anything I can do to help them along, I am more than willing.  As I wrap up my duties for that day, I am able to sneak over to the lunch room and first see Zac (because they let the little guys go first) and then if I wait a half hour, Scotty's class will come along.  That first day I stayed for both and I have decided that I won't be doing that very often.  The lunch room is noisy, messy and chaotic even though the lunch room monitors stay on top of the kids - no one is allowed to get up from their table for anything unless the monitor sees them and excuses them.  So for the most part it is orderly, its just LOUD and busy and I find myself wanting to run out of there as fast as I can!  But the boys love having me there and its worth it to endure the hour of chaos once in awhile...
Of course Zac would be sitting next to a girl...
And Scotty says this guy is his best buddy.  I call him Tommy Boy, but his name is Chris.  They exchanged phone numbers and Chris was calling here every day after school.  I finally had to play mean mommy and put a stop to it - can't think of any reason a 2nd grader needs to be talking on the phone!  Maybe when he's 13 I will reconsider...maybe.
