Scotty's Preschool Graduation

My Preschool Graduate

Scotty finished up his final year at Evergreen Lutheran Church and Preschool.  Auntie Nikki and cousins Bree and Max took the boys to the ceremony because my brother and I were visiting my dad in the hospital that night.  So, thanks Auntie for stepping up so he didn't have to miss the graduation experience!  I am a bit sad that he is no longer a student at this school at the church I grew up attending.  I will not miss the 30 minute drive to get to the school, but we will both miss having Mrs. Spear, Mrs. Greenwalt, Mrs. Haas and Mrs. Davis as part of our weekly routine.  Scotty will especially miss all his little classmates that he's gotten to know so well, who are all heading off to different elementary schools outside of the district we live in.  It was a great experience for Scotty and he learned a lot.  I can only hope the rest of his experiences with education are this pleasant.  On to Kindergarten we go!!

My sis in law and cousin in law co-hosted a baby shower for me this weekend and as much as I was against the idea at first (this is my THIRD baby, seriously do I need anything?!), I am happy that they convinced me into going along with it and I feel so fortunate to have so many people in my life that care about us.  Nikki and Elaine went above and beyond to make this a special day and it truly was.  Nik made the invitations and worked on decorations, special ordered cupcakes in my favorite flavors and took care of many other details.  In the midst of all the planning, a relative of hers passed away and she had to travel to California this past week for the funeral, making a point to return early the morning of the shower so she could still be a part of it and help with last minute details.  What devotion.  Elaine opted to do the food portion of the shower....most people would make a nice easy run to Costco to get already prepped food.  But not Elaine.  She loves to cook and try new recipes, so this was right up her alley....the "jewish mutha" in her came out and she made and prepped every dish at the party, from dips to desserts and everything in between like veggies and fruits and salads...even the meatballs were homemade!  It was an amazing spread and enough to feed an army!  Elaine lives in Oregon, so she spent the days leading up to the shower prepping all the food ahead of time to be carted up to Washington in a cooler and boxes.  She even brought her own dishes!  I was completely in awe of her talent and her tireless effort to make things perfect.  From the balloons to the beautiful flowers, everything was just that....Perfect.  It was a wonderful party shared by many friends and family that I hold dear right in the comfort of my own home.  I couldn't have hoped for anything more. 

Thank you to everyone for coming and giving in the way that you did.  And a special thank you to Nikki and Elaine for making it a day I will always remember, in celebration of my third - and last - baby boy.  I am blessed.

Had my 34 week ultrasound today and the tech got a really cool shot of his face, without even using 3-D imaging.  Baby is doing well, is about 5.5 pounds and is in ready position.  AHHH!!  It is getting closer.....

 

Scenic Beach

Scotty's school went on their annual trip to Scenic Beach to explore the tidepools.  It was a beautiful sunny day and perfect for beachcombing.  Scotty was not one for picking up any critters or even touching them much, but Zac didn't hesitate one bit.  We saw all kinds of critters like sea stars, crabs, sea snails, fish, eels and even a tiny octopus.  It was a fun experience for all of us.

The Weekend

Just wanted to share some pics from the weekend.  The weather has been so nice, nice enough for the boys to play in the sprinkler!  On Saturday, the boys were invited to a roller skating birthday party, but as usual, Scotty did not want to give it a whirl.....however, not surprisingly, Zac did and he did great!  He is definitely our daredevil and there isn't much he won't do.

We had a nice Mother's Day on Sunday, the boys made me necklaces that say I LOVE MOMMY and SUPER MOM and they are the best gifts ever!

A Day On The Peninsula

We had nothing planned on Sunday and the weather was cold and blustery out, but I couldn't take it any longer and had to get the boys, the dog and myself out of the house.  Thus, we hopped in the car and on over to the Olympic Peninsula we drove.  Couldn't decide if I wanted to go to Port Angeles or Port Townsend, so we did both.  I would've gone even further west toward Forks and the coast, had the weather been nicer.  But I decided to stick with the route that I knew best.  Chose Port Angeles first because my favorite burger joint is there, Frugals, and had to get lunch.  We drove up to Hurricane Ridge, but it was really raining and cloudy and couldn't justify paying $15 at the ranger station to look at a bunch of fog....so we turned around and headed on over to Port Townsend, stopping along the way at Anderson Lake to let the boys and dog loose for a bit.  Those of you who've seen the movie An Officer and a Gentleman, may recognize a couple of the pictures from that movie, as a lot of the scenes where Richard Gere went to boot camp are shot there at Fort Worden and the factory where Debra Winger worked is also near there (love that movie...).  The "bunkers" at the historic Battery Kinzie are a tourist hot spot when visiting Port Townsend, and the boys had fun going in and out of all the different rooms.  There are tunnels and hallways and stairs that lead to dark places that we didn't venture into, but a lot of people bring flashlights to explore.  Maybe next time when daddy is with us....a little too freaky for mommy.  The boys beachcombed and played in the sand for a while, meeting some new friends that showed them critters in the tidepools.  It was nice to just sit and relax on the beach, even though the weather was less than ideal.  A little rain and wind never hurt anyone!  It was a great adventure and we're looking forward to going back there to camp when Jay gets home.
