Blast from the Past

The beauty of Facebook allows you to get back in touch with people you have not seen and talked to in a long time.  Sometimes thats not always a good thing, but in this case, it was great!  A few months ago I got in touch with an old co worker from my time at the IRS in Seattle.  Vicky Davidson was the Director's secretary at the time and I was working for a different department, but our desks were on the same floor and we saw each other every day.  She also knew my mom (everyone knew my mom).  When Vicky said she'd be in the area visiting her sister, I jumped at the chance to see her again.  It has been 14 years since I left Seattle to start a new job (and life) in Oregon.  The last time I saw Vicky was at my mom's funeral in 2001.  I got emotional thinking about seeing her again because of what she represents to me, not only as a friend, but "she knew me when..." and seeing anyone from back then always reminds me of a very pivotal time in my life.  She calls me by my full name, so that's how you know its been awhile :)  Needless to say, we had a wonderful visit.  She came to the house to meet the boys and then the two of us went to dinner and chatted up a storm.  Was so good to see her again and really fun to catch up.  Thanks Vicky for making that trip from Maryland...until next time friend.
