Nik, the nieces, the boys and I headed off to eastern Washington for the Memorial Day weekend. It took us over THREE hours to get over the mountain pass, which would normally take maybe 30 minutes, due to all the holiday weekend traffic. OY! My niece and her pea-size bladder forced us to have to pull out of the line of traffic to the only gas stop at the summit. Boy, was that a mistake. The line wrapped around the store and the bathrooms were trashed by the time we got to them. GROSS! I have issues with public restrooms, so this was not a pleasant experience. We finally made the normal four hour trip in about eight hours, just in time to say hello and goodnight to my grandma. The next day was beautiful, warm and sunny. It was very nice to escape from the western Washington clouds and rain and enjoy some rays. We had no plans to go anywhere. We just walked around the small town of Prosser, went to the Saturday farmers market and had lunch at our favorite joint, Burger Ranch. The boys played with their new boats down at the river and laughed at Auntie when she slipped and fell into the water while trying to save one of the boats from floating off. The joys of being an Auntie to small boys! On the way out of town, we stopped at a few of the many wineries (Prosser is in the middle of wine country afterall) to get some bottles to bring home. It was a perfect ending to a perfect weekend....and we beat the big rush of traffic home, so that was a bonus. We love Prosser.
