5 Years Old

Showing off his loot
Little Pro Bowler
We celebrated Scotty's 5th birthday on June 30 and I can't believe my baby is FIVE!  Seems like yesterday when he was as little as Trev.  We started the day with mommy going off her pain meds so I could actually drive and take him for a day out.  Since I'd pretty much been laid up and dependent on others to get around for the past week, I hadn't had a chance to get him any gifts or even order a cake.  So, that was the day that I powered through the pain and we went out and had a good time.  First stop, Toys R Us.  Usually we rush through that store getting only what we came in for and out, but this time Scotty got to leisurely shop around and look at everything with no nagging from mommy to hurry up.  He picked out two toys and three books.  We then headed to Applebees for his free birthday lunch and then off to Safeway to pick his cake.  A crazy Spongebob cake that he'd spotted weeks before and has been talking about ever since.  He's not allowed to watch the show, but he was allowed to order the cake.  This ridiculous cake was enough for 40 people and we only had a party of 12...o-well.  Who doesn't like leftover cake?  Safeway actually requires at least 24 hours to make the darn thing, and I felt like such a bad mom because I hadn't thought to order it beforehand....but the lady was an angel and said she'd have it done for us in a few hours.  Hallelujah!  She saved the day and Scotty's smile :)  Thus, with cake in hand, we met up with family and friends at a bowling alley where we all enjoyed a few games, pizza, presents, dancing and of course the cake.  It was a good day and Scotty had no idea that it was thrown together on a whim.
