Dependent's Cruise

Jay's ship pulled into Port Angeles on June 25th for the Air Station Centennial celebration and the boys and I went up to meet him and tootle around one of our favorite towns for the evening.  The following morning, Scotty & Zac got to accompany Jay on the five hour dependent's cruise to Seattle.  The boys had a great time and no one got sea-sick, like I had anticipated.  They watched other ships go by, the helo fly-bys and other activities onboard ship.  They were exhausted when I picked them up that evening, but had lots of fun memories to share.

My Baby Boy Trev

My sweet baby turned one today.  I found myself just wanting to hold him as much as possible today and like usual, he was lovey right back and welcomed mommy's crazy emotions.  He really has been an angel and I know God blessed me with such an easy going baby because the other two definitely give me more than enough to handle.  I cannot believe it has been a year since Trev came into this world.  I was in love the moment I laid eyes on him.  Sadly, I will admit, I don't remember feeling that way immediately with the other two....with Scotty, it was complete fear and disbelief at first and with Zac, it was "whose child is this?"....funny how it is still that way at times to this day.  I love all my boys to no end, but with Trev, maybe because I knew he would be my last, I felt immediate bliss and have been completely head over heels ever since.  I thank God for these three little blessings that remind me every day (amongst dirt and noise) of what is really important.  Happy Birthday to my littlest boy.

Mighty Mount Rainier

Decided to take a little road trip with the boys and my niece this past Memorial Day and head up to Mt Rainier.  Its been years since I was last there - high school maybe?  That was a LONG time ago.  Anyway, it was between going to the mountain or to the ocean and Max seemed a little more excited about the mountain, so that's where we went.  Unfortunately, the weather was not ideal....cloudy with a chance of rain.  But I know if we wait for a clear day, we may never go.  Thus, here's what the mountain looks like on a clear day from the Paradise Visitors Center at 5400 ft elev:

And here's what we saw yesterday:

So, we definitely went to the mountain, we just never actually saw the mountain.  Kind of a bummer, but we had fun anyway.  Still managed to escape rain and have an actual picnic lunch outside at one of the rest stops.  And we did get to see some interesting things along the way.  The Paradise Visitor Center was especially educational....and warm.  And now at least Max can finally say she's been to the mountain.

Picnic at Kautz Creek rest stop

This fox was in the middle of the road and when we stopped to take a picture of him, he just sat down as if to pose...then he started heading toward us! EEK!

This sign made me giggle....and a little frighened too

These berms remind me of our driveway in Juneau...
Ah, good times

This was one of the exhibits in the visitors center.....
as my niece pointed out, obviously captured moments before the fox killed the poor bunny

Lovin' the snow

Prepping to be an Alaska Baby...who needs snow pants?

Found it disturbing that I had to keep reminding Zac not to eat the dirty snow
