Welcome Baby Trev!

Trev McKinley Wahrmund made his debut as scheduled on Tuesday, June 22 at 9:31 AM via c-section at Naval Hospital Bremerton.  He weighed 8 lbs 11 oz and was 20.5 inches long.  He is the sweetest little guy and I am head over heels in love!  The surgery was a bit harder on me than the previous two, so recovery has been a little more challenging.  I was pleasantly surprised by the experience I had at the military hospital and really was not ready to go home that second day.  I could've pushed for a third day, but figured they'd see right through me knowing this wasn't my first rodeo.  I sure do miss, among many things, that 24 hour care, the three meals a day served right to me and that angel nurse that took Trev in the middle of the night each night for two hours so I could have uninterrupted sleep.  I was treated very very well and it was really hard to say goodbye to the crew on "4 OB".

Now that we're home, however, things aren't as chaotic as I had feared.  In fact, the adjustment is going quite well and the boys are getting to know their new little buddy.  Scotty is the doting big brother, always wants to hold him and has been really helpful.  Zac on the other hand could probably take or leave him.  We'll have to work on that.  My family has been truly a godsend with Jay gone and I don't know how I could manage all this without them.  The Wahrmund boys are definitely keeping me BUSY....but I have no complaints, we are very blessed!

Pulled It

Scotty's tooth had to go.  The dentist wanted to keep it in and let it fall out on its own, but it was causing too many problems for the poor little guy....he couldn't even eat without it hitting the other teeth and making it bleed and sore.  Thus, I asked them to pull it while he had his cleaning the other day.  They gassed him, numbed him and took it out and Scotty was a trooper through it all.  Not a tear was shed and he's already back to eating "normal".  He'll be toothless for probably another year, but at least now he looks more like a five year old and less like a hillbilly...

So Long For Now

Sherri is heading to California
Paulette is heading to Virginia
Being a military family, it is inevitable that every couple of  years or so you will have to say goodbye to friends you've made along the way.  The military says when and where and you go, no questions asked.  Usually those orders are welcomed after you've spent time in certain places because you become accustomed to moving around and discovering new places.  In 2008, we moved at the same time as some of our fellow Coastie friends and we were all fortunate enough to get stationed in the Pacific Northwest.  As expected, we've managed to stay in touch and meet up with each other periodically over the past two years and it's been great.  However, as mentioned, the inevitable has come.  The Owens are now relocating to Alameda, California and the Fryars are relocating to Portsmouth, Virginia.  I met with my gal pals this past week to say our goodbyes and though it was a bit sad to send them off, I know we will see each other again.  You just know when you meet certain people that goodbye is really "so long for now".....who knows where the CG will take us next, we may just end up right near them again.  Safe travels, my friends.

Toothless at age 4...

Yesterday, as we were enjoying a lovely day in the warmth and sunshine at a BBQ with some friends, Scotty got kicked in the face while playing soccer, knocking one front tooth clear out and leaving the other just barely hanging on.  It was a bit traumatic for both of us, as seeing blood dripping from my son's mouth is a sight that no mother should ever have to endure!  I will be taking him to the dentist this week and they will most likely pull that other tooth because it is pretty loose.  Thus, smoothies, yogurt and shakes is all he is able to eat at the moment.  Poor guy.  He's a trooper, though, and was up and playing again in no time.  We consider this in some weird way a payback....when Scotty was three, he and his friend Sammie were running with each other, somehow bumped into each other, and since Sammie is about half the size of Scotty, she went flying into the wall knocking one of her front teeth clear out - at age three!  So she's been toothless for the past two years.  What goes around comes around, Scotty.  We always joke with her parents that the two of them are meant to be together and this just proves what soul mates they really are! :)

Memorial Day Weekend in Prosser

Nik, the nieces, the boys and I headed off to eastern Washington for the Memorial Day weekend.  It took us over THREE hours to get over the mountain pass, which would normally take maybe 30 minutes, due to all the holiday weekend traffic.  OY!  My niece and her pea-size bladder forced us to have to pull out of the line of traffic to the only gas stop at the summit.  Boy, was that a mistake.  The line wrapped around the store and the bathrooms were trashed by the time we got to them.  GROSS!  I have issues with public restrooms, so this was not a pleasant experience.  We finally made the normal four hour trip in about eight hours, just in time to say hello and goodnight to my grandma.  The next day was beautiful, warm and sunny.  It was very nice to escape from the western Washington clouds and rain and enjoy some rays.  We had no plans to go anywhere.  We just walked around the small town of Prosser, went to the Saturday farmers market and had lunch at our favorite joint, Burger Ranch.  The boys played with their new boats down at the river and laughed at Auntie when she slipped and fell into the water while trying to save one of the boats from floating off.  The joys of being an Auntie to small boys!  On the way out of town, we stopped at a few of the many wineries (Prosser is in the middle of wine country afterall) to get some bottles to bring home.  It was a perfect ending to a perfect weekend....and we beat the big rush of traffic home, so that was a bonus.  We love Prosser.
