Saying Goodbye

Taken via cell phone on the pier
Jay left early this morning for his five month deployment and it was bittersweet.  I don't think the boys really grasp how long daddy's going to be gone.  I'm sad of course, but am more of the mindset that the time has finally come, let's get it done and over with so he can get back here and be with his family again....oh, and meet his newborn baby.  I wish they could've planned this trip over the winter months when there's not much to do rather than the entire summer, but they don't consult the wives when planning these missions.  The boys and I will be okay, though it will be a lonely summer without him.  Hopefully the time will fly.....we miss him already :(

Not that I am exactly proud of the fact that my four year old is handling a gun.....but it is just a BB Gun and Jay continually teaches and reminds him of the "10 Commandments of Firearm Safety".  Says he's gotta learn early so he can be ready to hunt when the time comes...or ready for a revolution, whichever comes first.  Thus, I was able to catch a rare moment on camera during target practice in the back yard.  Scotty feels pretty darn important doing this stuff with dad and I can just picture all three of the Wahrmund boys following along as they get older.

Look Mom, Two Wheels!

Jay decided today was the day to teach Scotty how to ride his bike sans training wheels.  We noticed that he rarely used the trainers when he'd ride anyway, so off they came.  Scotty was equipped with gloves just in case he fell, but so far so good.  He just zippped right off like he'd been doing it all along.  Can't believe it!  Seems like just yesterday I was pushing that little tyke around in a stroller and now he's riding a two wheeler on his own (tear...).  That's my boy!
