Preschool Picnic

Scenic Beach in Seabeck, WA

One of the many masses of Sea Stars scattered along the beach

We think Scotty needs WADERS instead of rain boots

Zac is definitely braver than his brother when it comes to checking things out

Scotty with classmates Colton and Hailey

Scotty's preschool had an end of the year picnic at Scenic Beach. Jay took the day off and we joined Scotty's class as a family. It was a really low tide and perfect for beachcombing. There were a lot of critters for the kids to see and the sun was shining. Always good to get outside on days like these. Can't believe we're at the end of the school year!

My Lucky Day

Jay and I went to our third Mariners game this year and so far, each game we've attended they have won. I'll admit, the Ms are not doing so great in the month of May, but it was great to see them win last night. We always get there early so we can watch batting practice. We have seats in the front row in Right Field, so it's perfect fly ball territory and we bring our gloves. Well, soon after we had taken our seats, magic happened. I am not sure which of the Mariners hit this ball because they aren't wearing their jerseys during practice, but it came flying deep to RF and I remember thinking "hm, it's not deep enough, so I won't bother to stand up"....I was right. However, it hit the warning track and BOUNCED up over the wall and into my lap. I was merely reacting to the ball when it landed into my glove. HOW'S THAT FOR LUCK?!?!?! My only regret is not knowing who it was that hit the ball. But it is a pretty sweet momento from my beloved Mariners - it's got real grass and dirt stains from Safeco field, pitched and hit by someone from the Mariners ball club!! You can bet, I was on cloud nine :)

Ocean Shores

This weekend was set to have some of the best weather we've seen this year, so we decided to pack up and head to the coast for the day. It's a three hour drive to get over to Ocean Shores, so we started out early and got over there just in time to have a picnic on the beach. The weather was fabulous and the water wasn't too cold for wading. We spent some time flying our kite, beachcombing, playing in the waves, watching horseback riding and crazy moped riders speed by, we saw whales just beyond the surf and we walked around the little strip of beach shops. On the way out, we found a "public fishing" spot and let Scotty throw the line in for a little bit. I finally got a little color, but I slathered the boys in SPF 50 so they maintained their pasty whiteness just fine. Jay on the other hand looked a bit hot by the time we left. All in all, it was a great no-agenda family outing at the ocean.

A Happy Mother's Day

As you can see from the pics, Jay is home. His ship ran into some problems and they had to return home to fix them. Thus, he was here for Mother's Day and we are happy to have him home. This past weekend was spent taking Scotty fishing and catching five trout all on his own, having neighborhood BBQs, softball games and spending a nice Mother's Day Brunch with family. Summer fun is finally upon us!
